Elfin Lakes Winter Trail located in the Garibaldi Provincial Park near Squamish in BC Canada, is a glorious trail popular in both summer and winter for trail running, hiking, camping, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Join James Stewart of Couch to the Summit as he showcases the winter trail on December 4 2020 on a perfect weather day.
It is highly recommended to use skis or snowshoes, because running through the soft snow is extremely physically demanding and makes for a long exhaustive day out. James is an elite trail runner and performance coach, please get in touch with him if you are interested in developing your endurance. http://www.couchtothesummit.com/coaching
Proper gear is essential for running in the snow ... especially footwear to prevent frostbite. James wears Salomon S/Lab XA Alpine Waterproof shoes, Salomon S/Lab gaiters, Hillsound Trail Ultra Crampons, Wool Injinji toe socks, and also foot warmers to allow for 10 hours or more in sub-zero snow conditions.
